Get Involved!
We've attended a lot of weddings in the last few years, and have realized that the parts we enjoyed the most were helping make them happen. We loved being able to show our support for the couple in concrete ways, and being able to help out--even in small ways like setting up chairs, placing flowers in a wedding arch, or bringing a dish to share--made us feel so happy. It felt like a return to older "barn-raising" traditions of family and community.
We want our wedding to be more family reunion and celebration than spectacle. All this means that there's plenty we can use help with! We would like to invite you to take part in our wedding as well.
We know many of you will be flying or driving in from out of town and have limited time and/or energy for other stuff. This is truly no matter: we are deeply grateful that you will be there, and that you have put aside other plans and travelled to be with us. We will be overjoyed to have you with us when we launch our new lives together.
But if you're interested in helping out, there are all sorts of tasks we need a hand with, from running errands beforehand or helping to set up chairs, to hanging directional signs, or helping us tidy up the grounds afterwards.
If your schedule is freer on Sunday, we would love help with the picnic too, from assisting Sam's Uncle Johnny at the grill, to setting up the badminton court.
Things we can use help with: there will be designated people coordinating efforts, but we can use help
in all of these areas:
- Setup before the wedding (9:30-11:30am Sat.) (Set up tables & umbrellas, place settings, food tables)
- Help during the wedding (Moving chairs to the tables after the ceremony, misc. other help)
- Cleanup afterwards (5:30pm Sat.) (Breakdown of tables, food and drink areas, washing up)
- BBQ setup at Armstrong Redwoods park (11:00am Sun.) (Tablecloths on picnic tables, pick up ice, set up badminton)
- BBQ Grilling help (Sun.) (Food prep, grilling)
- BBQ cleanup (6:00pm Sun.)
Potluck: We will be providing food and wine, but if you have a special dish you'd like to share, by all means please bring it! Our dear friend Stacy is organizing potluck food; her contact information is below.
